Sense and Sensibility - DivX Version (Normal Quality), DVD (Good Quality), PDA Version, iPod/iPhone Version
|
IMDB rating: 7.60 Plot: When Mr. Dashwood dies, he must leave the bulk of his estate to the son by his first marriage, which leaves his second wife and three daughters (Elinor, Marianne, and Margaret) in straitened circumstances. They are taken in by a kindly cousin, but their lack of fortune affects the marriageability of both practical Elinor and romantic Marianne. When Elinor forms an attachment for the wealthy Edward Ferrars, his family disapproves and separates them. And though Mrs. Jennings tries to match the worthy (and rich) Colonel Brandon to her, Marianne finds the dashing and fiery Willoughby more to her taste. Both relationships are sorely tried. But this is a romance, and through the hardships and heartbreak, true love and a happy ending will find their way for both the sister who is all sense and the one who is all sensibility. |

Which of these books do you recommend?
these are the only options i have so help me chose! (:
Dracula-Bram Stoker
Sense and Sensibility Austin
Wuthering Heights-Emily Bronte
Please tell me why you would recommend this book next to the others(:
Sense and Sensibility Austen. It’s one of my favorites. But don’t take my advise because each reader has different tastes.
So Dracula is pretty obvious and is more of a dark sci fi/fantasy novel.
S & S is about romance and social status and heirarchy of the period but it is a really well written novel.
Wuthering Heights is also romance but really really deep like Romeo Juliet and has a bit of mystical phenomena with twisted plot.
All good but again in depends on your tastes. Good choices. I’m so glad you are not one of those teeny bopper people who just reads those easy-to read novels. Good for you!

Sense and Sensibilty - Jane Austen
All three are good (although, you will most likely hate EVERY character in Wuthering Heights), but Sense and Sensibility is definitely one of my favorite books ever. I even think it’s better than Pride and Predjudice.

Sense and Sensibility. The language is a little thick to get through at first, but at least the plot moves along nicely (unlike Wuthering Heights) and Dracula… well, I am not a horror fan.

Between those three, I would go with Sense and Sensibility as Austen is one of my all-time favorite writers. Dracula is enjoyable as well, but I like Austen’s characters and stories quite a lot.

Sense & Sensibility
I tried reading Wuthering Heights but couldn’t get into the characters. I found them rather annoying. I got 1/4 through it and had to put it away.
